About NATHA

Neighbors Acting Together Helping All

A neighborhood association since 1991, NATHA began as a Neighborhood Watch group in the low-income Lincoln Corridor of Northwest Pasadena. The Navarro Avenue Tremont Howard Association quickly outgrew its original charter and boundaries. Its current name keeps the original acronym, but better reflects its mission through two programs, Youth Development and Community Development.

A true grassroots agency, NATHA combines programs for children; nutrition, exercise and health activities and information for families; personal growth training; and opportunities for community action into a cross-generational volunteer response to the community’s needs. It serves an area of about 1,900 homes.

Working with public and private agencies, NATHA brings people together to improve community life for all residents by crafting low-cost, high consensus responses to address residents’ most critical issues: educational outcomes and personal growth opportunities for children; public health and safety; individual health; cultural and language barriers among neighbors; and other quality-of-life issues. NATHA’s volunteers donate many thousands of hours annually to address these issues.

NATHA’s success at bringing people together to work toward their shared vision has increased its outreach to about 1900 households. Rather than re-invent the wheel, NATHA maintains strong partnerships with public and private agencies to achieve the community’s goals. Its focus is not agency growth but community priorities consistent with the organization’s vision. Its excellence derives from low-cost solutions that are widely embraced.

The Resource Center accommodates presentations and disseminates information to residents from countless area service providers. The facility is also available to other community organizations that require space for gatherings and/or meetings. NATHA has demonstrated success in making a difference in this fast growing, cultural and ethnically diverse community.
